Their journey began on April 8, when they launched aboard the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft, marking the first spaceflight for both Kim and Zubritsky. For Ryzhikov, this was his third mission, bringing his total days in space to an impressive 603.

During their 245-day stay on the International Space Station (ISS), the crew orbited Earth a staggering 3,920 times, covering nearly 104 million miles. And this is the part most people miss: while up there, they weren’t just floating around—they were hard at work on experiments that could change the future of healthcare and space exploration.

Kim, for instance, played a key role in studying bioprinted tissues containing blood vessels in microgravity. This research could pave the way for producing tissues in space to treat patients on Earth—a game-changer for regenerative medicine. He also worked on the Surface Avatar study, testing how robots can be remotely commanded in space, which could lead to robotic assistants for future missions to the Moon or Mars.
